As New American Pathways celebrates 10 years of thriving and supporting Georgia’s refugee and immigrant communities, we take pride in being recognized as a pillar in the refugee resettlement space, both locally and nationally. Despite the accolades, we find ourselves navigating a period of ambiguity, with changes to immigration policy expected in the months ahead.
2024 has been a year of significant growth. We welcomed over 1,500 new Americans, with more than 700 coming through the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program and another 800 plus arriving as humanitarian entrants or with other types of protective status. While the road ahead is expected to be bumpy, we are confident that our resilience, courage, and resourcefulness will enable us to continue making a meaningful impact in the communities we serve.
Our Achievements in 2024 Here are some of the achievements we’re proud to highlight:
- Job Placement: 260 of our clients were placed in jobs with a minimum wage of over $16.00 per hour.
- Support for Children, Families and School: 97 families participated in our Parents as Teachers program and 199 children participated in the Bright Futures Afterschool program.
- Women’s Economic Empowerment: 72 new participants.
- Citizenship: Over 200 of our clients applied for U.S. citizenship.
- Voter Registration: We helped register over 11,000 clients to vote.
10 Years of Growth and Impact Over the past decade, New American Pathways has expanded significantly, allowing us to serve three times the number of clients we did in 2014. Some of our proudest accomplishments were when we:
- Placed 2,189 individuals in jobs.
- Assisted 1,881 people in applying for citizenship, with a 98% success rate.
- Provided intensive case management services to nearly 900 vulnerable refugees.
- Helped register 37,280 new citizens to vote.
- Served an average of 190 children and youth per year through our after-school and summer programs.
Though we face uncertainty in the foreseeable future, we are staunch in our commitment to expand our legacy across Georgia. We will continue to be a trusted partner in the community. Through early March, we expect to resettle nearly 300 refugees, and in the year ahead, we will intensify our efforts to ensure that all our clients have the resources and support they need to thrive in these challenging times.
