To apply for citizenship, you need to be over 18 years old, have had your green card for at least 5 years (3 years if you’re married to a US Citizen or in the US Military), be a person of Good Moral Character, and have lived in the US for more than half of the past five years.

- List of home addresses for the past 5 years with dates
- List of employer names and addresses for the past 5 years with dates
- Money order for $725 USCIS filing fee
- OR proof of low income
- Proof of public benefits (food stamps or Medicaid)
- 2018 federal income tax return
- OR proof of low income
- Dates you have been outside the US since becoming a permanent resident
- If married to a US citizen/permanent resident, bring spouse’s green card/US passport, marriage certificate, divorce decrees

How long does it take to become a citizen?
The current processing time for citizenship is 8-14 months.
What if I’ve been arrested?
Please visit us on a Tuesday morning before the event for walk-in to talk about when or if you should file for citizenship. Our staff have many years of experience in analyzing criminal records.
Will I get to see an accredited representative at my appointment?
Yes, volunteers will help you fill out your forms, but everyone will have a chance to speak to an accredited representative or attorney at the event.
Can I get started on my application now?
Yes! In the confirmation email you will receive from signing up, there is a link to Citizenshipworks.org, and you can begin your application there. We offer a discount to people who have accurately filled in more than 90% of the application before the event.
Can I apply if I don’t speak English?
There are very specific waivers available for people who have medical disabilities or who have had their green cards for more than 15 years. Please visit us on a Tuesday morning before the event for walk-in to talk about those options.
