| COVID-19 Vaccines: 

  • COVID-19 vaccines are currently available to everyone 6 months old and up. 
  • Booster shots are also available and recommended for those who are eligible after the allotted time. 
  • COVID-19 vaccines are effective in reducing the severity of symptoms from the COVID-19 virus, rates of hospitalization, and death. 
  • COVID-19 vaccines are safe. 
  • COVID-19 vaccines are free and available to everyone regardless of citizenship status.

Vaccines are available at local pharmacies such as Global Pharmacy, IRC CORE locations, CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens, Walmart Pharmacy, Kroger Pharmacy, Dekalb Board of Health and more

| COVID-19 Eligibility:  

  • Those who have not received a previous monovalent vaccine or have not completed their original series can receive a bivalent vaccine.  
  • Patients who are 6 years of age and older, and are immunocompromised, are able to receive a second bivalent vaccine 2 months after their first bivalent vaccine.
  • Patients who are 65 years of age or older can receive a second bivalent vaccine 4 months after their first bivalent vaccine. 
  • Patients who are not immunocompromised and are not 65 years or older cannot receive a SECOND bivalent vaccine. They can only receive ONE bivalent vaccine.

| COVID-19 and Fertility:  

  • The COVID-19 vaccines are safe for all women including those who want to get pregnant in the future, trying to get pregnant, are pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  • There is no evidence that the COVID-19 vaccines cause any issues with becoming pregnant now or in the future. 
  • There is no evidence that the COVID-19 vaccines cause male ferility problems. 
  • Not only are COVID-19 vaccines safe for pregnant women, but they recommended for pregnant women.
  • Getting vaccinated against COVID-19 while breast feeding offers the newborn baby protection from the virus as well.
