Position title
Part-Time ESL Coordinator

New American Pathways provides an English-at-Home (EaH) volunteer match program for clients who lack the means to access traditional ESL classes/programs.  In EaH, volunteer tutors are matched with clients to provide one-on-one English instruction, both in the client’s home as well as through virtual platforms.  The part-time ESL Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that clients are receiving quality instruction by coordinating essential ESL program functions, including client intake, English assessments, volunteer coaching, and curriculum development. In addition, the ESL Coordinator will connect clients to other ESL services both in the community and online as needed. The part-time ESL Coordinator will also work closely with New American Pathways Career Coach to coordinate ESL services for New American Pathways Vocational Counseling clients who are pursuing advanced English instruction with a focus on employment. This position is approximately 20 hours a week, including both remote and office hours as needed.

  • Evaluates programs and curriculum; proposes and assists in developing program changes; implements program modifications based upon evaluation results.
  • Provides direction, training, orientation, and guidance to volunteer ESL tutors
  • Coordinates, schedules, and administers ESL assessment testing. Maintains pre-testing, post-testing, and data forms for all EaH clients.
  • Communicates with interpreters to arrange appointments and class schedules for non-proficient English speakers.
  • Directly supervises two EaH AmeriCorps members
  • Administers ESL data collection; ensures validity/accuracy of data via reconciliation of data from multiple sources
  • Learns and applies emerging technologies, as necessary, to perform duties in an efficient, organized, and timely manner.
  • Liaisons with the Advancement Department to ensure quality volunteer referrals and volunteer engagement oversight
  • Maintains an up to date community ESL classes/programs resource list for the purpose of providing referrals to clients who are unable to participate in the EaH program
  • Bachelor’s degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or English
  • Ability to supervise and train volunteers with different levels of teaching experience
  • Knowledge and application of ESL teaching principles
  • Proven organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Flexible and able to work with others in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software
  • Passion for working with the refugee and immigrant community.  Experience a plus.
  • Must have valid Georgia driver’s license, insured vehicle, and drive own vehicle
  • Submit to criminal background check and driver history check
